Soulja Boy Arrested and Charged

Rapper Soulja Boy spent Wednesday night in jail after being charged with obstruction for gathering people at a vacant house in Georgia, reports MTV. Jason Bolton, the Henry County Police Captain, said someone called in to report complaints of people hanging out at an abandoned home, and when officers arrived that night to investigate, half of the 40 people made a run for it.
“You couldn’t really tell what was going on, but about half of the group ran from the officer on foot. He ordered, of course, for them to stop. There were several vehicles left at that location,” Bolton said.
Later, while police were still at the house, DeAndre Cortez Way, Soulja Boy’s government name, showed up and confessed that the group was shooting a music video. He was then charged with obstruction and spent a night behind bars, and bonded out on Thursday.
Soulja Boy, who first burst onto the scene with the hit single “Crank That (Soulja Boy),” has been the subject of much ridicule by his fellow peers. With that said, one night behind bars isn’t going to kill the rappers reputation, at least not with his fans. Hip Hip icons like Snoop Dogg and Method Man have been arrested more than a couple of times and still continue to be major public figures of hip hop.
