It’s hard to find a more hardcore group of fans than those of the late great Michael Jackson. According to the Huffington Post, millions of people battled it out in an online auction for one of Jackson’s famous bedazzled gloves. Unfortunately, everyone was beat out by a corporate buyer for the Hard Rock Hotel, who bought the item for almost double its original price.

Back in 1996 Jackson visited Australia to screen the film Ghosts, during his popular HIStory tour. After the movie, he threw his glove into the audience and it was captured by Bill Hibble, a fan who has since passed on. That glove was sold this past Sunday for 57,600 Australian dollars, which is equivalent to $48,400 USD. Warwick Stone, a buyer for the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, beat out five other bidders to get the first piece of memorabilia auctioned off after the singer’s death.

It would have been awesome if an avid MJ fan could have been able to buy the glove as opposed to a corporate chain. Unless you have thousands or even millions of dollars of throw away, you will always be the underdog in an Jackson auction.

What do you think of the Hard Rock Hotel winning one of Jackson’s gloves?
