Robert Pattinson, the teen vampire heartthrob, seems to have his mind set on other things besides acting. In fact, he still striving to make art as a musician these days.

As a young Hollywood star who has to keep his head in the game, Pattinson probably understands that he can’t live off of his Cedric Diggory image or pasty yet handsome figure via Edward Cullen for too long. Before he was acting he was modeling, but after becoming every teen girl’s fantasy on the silver screen, he’s ready to focus on a music career.

For Rpattz fans, this is not a surprise. Two of his songs have already been heard on the first Twilight soundtrack and his close friends and songwriters, Marcus Foster and Bobby Long, are frequent performers at the famous Hotel Cafe. His own ventures into musical performances have happened throughout last summer at places such as The Whisky in Los Angeles. He is able to play the piano (which he did in the first Twilight film) and the acoustic guitar.

As the soundtrack to New Moon has been revealed (and leaked), fans can see that Pattinson is nowhere to be seen in the track listing. However, according to a Joy Magazine interview, the actor has expressed interest in writing songs for films now, which we can specifically assume to be Eclipse:

“I’m trying to write some songs for the next movie. I don’t know if it will be possible because of my schedule, but I want to do it. Music is the other side of me, it’s one of the things that complete me and I wouldn’t want to leave it aside for anything in the world. I have the intention of evolving in that aspect. It’s something I want to develope just as much as acting. I want to have a balance between those two things.”

However music became his other calling, we’re sure his fans will be able to help him out.

Swedish singer-songwriter Lykke Li, who broke out with her debut album Youth Novels, and an artist on the current New Moon soundtrack feels that Robert Pattinson is completing all responsibilities his fans expect him to fulfill. She has basically dubbed him the new Leonardo DiCaprio in an interview with MTV:

“I know Robert Pattinson is this big teen idol, but I remember watching ‘Romeo + Juliet’ with Leonardo DiCaprio, and I was, like, in love. I cried, like, five times. And the soundtrack to that movie is so good, you know? Really well-chosen songs. Not commercial. I think it’s great, and hopefully we can do that again.”

With Lykke Li and his millions of fans for support, Pattinson should be just fine launching into a music career.  The question is: Will the credibility come along with all of that?

Music critics aren’t so easy to please, after all.

Bobby Long, Marcus Foster, and Sam Bradley are amazing singer/songwriters. It is easy to see where Rob learned how to play the guitar (Marcus taught him). Each has his own style, but you can hear a wonderful similarity. I highly recommend going to see Bobby, Marcus, and Sam play. They are all incredible live. Bobby's coming back to the States to tour in a couple of weeks. Marcus is back in December. Sam's going on tour with Justin Nozuka soon. I hope Rob starts playing again because I love his sound. Cheers!
