Heloise and the Savoir Faire: BeatCrave Fav
By Lindsey Darden
Upon first look and listen to Heloise & the Savoir Faire I felt it almost urgent to ask if the band was based in New York. “They’ve seriously got to be from New York,” said I. As luck would have it, they are indeed from New York. There’s something fun and outgoing about them, but at the same time they seem very self-aware of their talent with much desire to letting you in. We could be wrong. But then you’ve got their fashion sense, choice of genre, and onstage mannerisms – together, something about Heloise & the Savoir Faire just screams of New York. That kind of scream can’t be faked.
Sure, being signed to Simian Records – actor Elijah Wood’s record label – boosts the intrigue and makes it easier to locate them on Google; however, it is not the solely relied-upon reason for the Brooklyn-based outfit’s existence. Their colorful, forthright electro-rock sound lacks in over-production and weeds them from the poseurs. For lack of a cornier phrase, Heloise and the Savoir Faire is music to our ears. We want to be friends with them, they’re so cool. Check them out in our BeatCrave Fav series, and if you find yourself as worked up as we are, be sure to vote for them in Friday’s poll!
