Hello, sixties; we’ve missed you. Upon first listen, The Lovetones audibly resemble everyone’s favorite mop-top rock n’ roll innovators from across the pond (ahem, Liverpool) circa 1964. Barring the fact that they’re not from across that pond – more like from across another sizable body of water, try – we’d be in all sorts of denial to not acknowledge the influence, especially come those glorious Sgt. Pepper Lonely Hearts Club and White Album days. The Sydney, Australia-based band knows how to shake up the senses with their own brand of psychedelic rock – the classic undertones sweeten the deal just enough to keep us intrigued for longer than the average listen.

We’d like to think that this reinvention of what we consider classic rock is similar to what people back in the day thought of when they listened to Westerns on the radio: good old days, simpler times – although, you know, not really. We dig relative melodic feel-good-ness any chance it is available, and coupled with real-time lyrical thoughts worth pondering over, we think you’ll approve of The Lovetones as our BeatCrave Fav of the day.
