Spike Jonze and Kanye Wests Film Not Finished Kanye West and Spike Jonzes Film Not Finished

Kanye West will always be in the news. That’s just the way it’s going to be. Although there may be tons of coverage on the rapper/kind-of-singer, the news will always be controversial enough to keep people intrigued.

Back in the day, he said our former president didn’t care about black people, fell in love with the autotune, recently traumatized an innocent 19-year-old, and his death hoax also created a media frenzy earlier this week. The media will always be on the heels of West and his shenanigans.

Now, Spike Jonze (director of Where The Wild Things Are) is telling people that his collaboration with West on the short film, “We Were Once A Fairytale,” was not taken down from West’s website without reasoning.

According to the New York Times’ Arts Beat Blog (via Pitchfork), Jonze said that the film West had posted (on his blog) on the 19th but taken down the morning after was actually an unfinished version. He also believes that West was unaware of the film’s lack of completion, saying:  “I think he was like, ‘Oh, it’s out. I’ll link to it.’”

If you didn’t get a chance to see the posted video earlier this week, you can still see it below. However, the finalized version is set for release via iTunes on Tuesday, October 27th.

The film which has a very dark and morbid theme was one of the many factor leading to Kanye West’s death hoax on Twitter. Jonze tried to give a little background info to the Times, when he explained that the film is supposed to complement the motifs on West’s album, 808s & Heartbreaks: “We rehearsed the night before we shot, and talked about trying to get to that raw place, that sad, pathetic, drunken, lost place. I told him, the more shameless it is, the more pathetic it is, the better. He just went for it.”
