Lily Allen Launching Her Own Record Label
By Seraphina L.
Lily Allen is a tricky girl. She says one thing and does another. For instance, she vehemently said the Featured Artists Coalition was too nice about music piracy when she herself had illegal mixtapes on her website. Or how about when she said she might quit the music business altogether but then hopped on a tour with rapper, Dizzee Rascal?
Like Kanye West, Allen always seems to be popping up in the news about with blunt opinions but what sets her apart is the fact that she always claims she has a plan. These plans may not necessarily pull through but the loud-mouthed and stubborn pop star does always know what she wants.
Right at this moment, Allen has decided to launch her own record label.
She recently told the Telegraph (via Spinner) that she is “setting up a record label at the moment, getting involved in lots of different things.”
Although most people misconstrued her previous statement about a break from the music biz, the record label has stemmed from her feelings about music piracy. Assumptions come from her stating, ‘I think things need to change in the music industry and we need to rethink a lot of stuff.”
What kind of artists will she sign to her record label? Jokingly, she replied with “terrible ones that work on the radio.” Whatever type of label Allen will be turning it into, we’re wondering if she’ll have the support. Constantly flip-flopping between two extremes is a characteristic of an indecisive leader and a new record label is born every day, so it’ll be interesting to see what Allen does for success on this side of music.
Perhaps, Patrick Wolf will help her sign some artists. He doesn’t mind being her follower.
