Lilith Fair Announces 18 City Tour Dates Lilith Fair Announces 18 City Tour Dates

Remember when we told you theĀ  lady-lovin’ music festival, Lilith Fair, was coming back in 2010? Well, we’ve got a little more info for those of you who like to celebrate women in music.

The music festival that toted strong female acts of the 90s included Sarah McLachlan, Erykah Badu, Tegan & Sara, and more has posted 18 different dates on their website.

The chosen cities are: Atlanta, Boston, Calgary, Chicago, Dallas, Denver, Los Angeles, Minneapolis, Montreal, New York, Philadelphia, Portland, Seattle, San Francisco, Toronto, Vancouver, Washington DC and London.

However, the details are still a mystery. Neither the dates nor the lineup have been announced and the people behind the event intend to build the suspense by keeping quiet. According to Billboard, the festival’s co-founder and CEO of Nettwerk Music Group only tells us:

“I can’t reveal anything further now. But I can assure fans that we have some exciting announcements over the course of the following weeks, from confirmed artists to additional cities to innovative social initiatives. Lilith 2010 is very much upon us.”

Lilith Fair ran for three years and gained popularity in the 90s as did the careers of Sheryl Crow, Fiona Apple, and Jewel. We’re wondering who will be in the lineup this time around. The classic faces of Lilith fair such as Paula Cole and and Natalie Merchant or some edgier acts like Tegan & Sara and Christina Aguilera again? How about they throw some Telepathe or St. Vincent in the mix?

Who do you want in Lilith Fair 2010′s lineup?

I see this mistake so often I have an email template for it.

Tori Amos never played Lilith Fair. Sarah tried to talk her into doing it, but she couldn't have done her usual show with all that comes along with it in terms of lighting, crew, sets longer than 50 minutes, etc., so she never did any Lilith Fair shows. Here is one interview in which Tori discussed this.

    – Westword; Denver, Colorado; August 27- September 2, 1998

    – And as far as the Lilith Fair, I'm doing my own show, and it's
    – really a theater piece. What I'm doing, I couldn't do at the Lilith
    – Fair. I would have to change it. I did quite a few festivals in
    – Europe, and we had to shift it. It becomes more of a variety show,
    – and there's nothing wrong with a variety show. We had good fun —
    – [Garbage's] Shirley Manson and I had a laugh, and Björk was on the
    – bill and we get along very well. But the point is, I did have to
    – shift it, and I really did want to create the show that you're going
    – to see.

For years I've seen it published all over the place that Tori Amos was involved with Lilith Fair, so I expect trying to put this to rest is simply another part of my Sisyphusian existence, but I feel truth counts for something.

    Sincerely,
