I see this mistake so often I have an email template for it.

Tori Amos never played Lilith Fair. Sarah tried to talk her into doing it, but she couldn't have done her usual show with all that comes along with it in terms of lighting, crew, sets longer than 50 minutes, etc., so she never did any Lilith Fair shows. Here is one interview in which Tori discussed this.

- <a href="http://www.yessaid.com/interviews/98-08-27westword.html" target="_blank">http://www.yessaid.com/interviews/98-08-27westwor...</a>
- Westword; Denver, Colorado; August 27- September 2, 1998

- And as far as the Lilith Fair, I'm doing my own show, and it's
- really a theater piece. What I'm doing, I couldn't do at the Lilith
- Fair. I would have to change it. I did quite a few festivals in
- Europe, and we had to shift it. It becomes more of a variety show,
- and there's nothing wrong with a variety show. We had good fun --
- [Garbage's] Shirley Manson and I had a laugh, and Björk was on the
- bill and we get along very well. But the point is, I did have to
- shift it, and I really did want to create the show that you're going
- to see.

For years I've seen it published all over the place that Tori Amos was involved with Lilith Fair, so I expect trying to put this to rest is simply another part of my Sisyphusian existence, but I feel truth counts for something.

Sincerely,

Richard Handal
