Last.fm Will Launch Last.tv To Stream Music Festivals
By Seraphina L.
Are there any scrobblers out there? Don’t know what “scrobbling” is? Well then, it’s safe to assume you don’t use the popular music streaming service, Last.fm.
Although a bit more popular in the UK (where it originated) and Europe, plenty of people still use it State side as a social platform in regards to what type of music they listen to. Now when newer companies like Ustream, lala, and iLike plan on dominating the streaming world, CBS-owned Last.fm is set out to launch Last.tv to raise the brand popularity and go global.
According to Music Week, Last.tv will be offered online and offline although most of it will start out online at Last.fm before Last.tv is launched in January.
It’ll also initially offer coverage of music festivals in Europe – “either through building bespoke events or partnering with existing festivals.” They’ll gain some revenue with ads that will be both pre- and post-roll video as well.
Music-oriented TV seems like a good idea especially since MTV isn’t doing the job anymore. Kudos to MTV for having their video catalog online but we don’t want to stream The Hills on their site anymore. We want the music and Last.tv may be just the fix we need.
Now if they moved over to the States and streamed some of the festivals over here, that would be glorious.
Are you excited for Last.tv?
