Weezer To Rock Out In Bug Costumes For Yo Gabba Gabba!
By Seraphina L.
Oddly enough, this may be the most expected (as in normal) thing we’ve seen Weezer front man, Rivers Cuomo do in the past few months.
Covering Lady Gaga, naming their album Raditude with cover art featuring a flying dog, creating a Wuggie, then collaborating with Katy Perry has made us all wonder about the novelty of Weezer. Yet somehow, seeing the band dress up in bug costumes and seriously rock out during a song called, “All My Friends Are Insects” is strangely comforting.
According to Entertainment Weekly’s Music Mix blog (via P4k), Weezer has taped the song for popular kids and Nick Jr. favorite show, Yo Gabba Gabba! The episode will air early next year but this sneak peek over at EW has come just in time for Halloween!
Usually, artist who appear on the show rock out in their own style but we’ve never seen any band rock as hard as Weezer does in this clip. Our favorite has to be the drummer in the gigantic grasshopper costume. That enormous acorn they roll around as they perform is hilarious as well.
The funniest part is that Cuomo had never even seen the show, despite the numerous band appearances, but he had a lot of fun doing it. He also went on to say, “It’s awesome here. I love giant open rooms with tall ceilings. But here they have all this foam scenery and interestingly painted backdrops. It’s a cool fantasy land I’d like to inhabit.”
