Beatles and video games fans all around the world rejoiced when they hard the company Harmonix, was combining the two special things together for The Beatles Rock Band. Also, as easily predicted, the product continues to be a great success. However, that’s not hard to do when the entire game is fully packed with The Beatles’s extensive catalog.
Who’s up next? Word on the street says it’s the band, The Who.
According to an interview with Consequence of Sound (via Kotaku via Mass Live), The Who’s lead singer, Roger Daughtry, spilled the beans about the hopeful collaboration near the end of the 4-page interview:
“The game, yeah, yeah, they’re going to be doing a Who one next year. There is one planned. (The idea) is fabulous. Anything that gets non-musical people interested in music is wonderful. In my opinion, music is our last true great freedom. They can burn our books, they can burn our paintings, but they can’t stop us singing and making music.”
After the interview had been published and word had spread a bit more, an official Rock Band spokesperson was forced to announce the following: “We’re working closely with The Who on what’s next, but don’t have anything new to announce at this time.”
So, The Who for Rock Band: Confirmed. Details with which albums to be featured and when the release date will be? Zilch. We wouldn’t be surprised if Quadrophenia became one of the animation scenes though.
What do you think of The Who as the next Rock Band?
