Musicians are provided with a plethora of websites to sell their music through. Indie favorites include CD Baby, eMusic, Amazon, The Orchard, Bandcamp, and even iTunes because of convenience. However, we still have yet to see the day when we we can digitally download the Beatles catalog with a few simple clicks.

As LA Times described it, “The Beatles catalog remains a Holy Grail,” even though we’ve told you all about the Beatles Rock Band franchise and more. However, it seems that all Beatles songs are ironically already available on a discount digital download site for only $0.25 each!

According to both LA Times’ Pop and Hiss music blog and Wired’s Epicenter, Beatles song are currently on sale over at BlueBeat.com. Any re-masted Beatles album is available for streaming and we repeat – every song is on sale for a mere $0.25! BlueBeat.com’s slogan or mission is to “stop the insanity of overpriced online music.” Well, for what everyone has been waiting on for so long, this seems oddly “under”-priced!

So, we also wonder: Is this website legit? Wired’s reports:

“We were able to purchase all 17 songs on the remastered version of Abbey Road for $4.55 (including a 30-cent service charge) using a Paypal account, and the songs appeared in our Music folder as advertised. The MP3s are 160 Kbps, and the file’s song information tags list “2009 BlueBeat.com” as the copyright holder.”

One hypothesized reason for the royal music showing up on this site?

“It’s not entirely uncommon for unlicensed music to show up for download or purchase on a seemingly legit-looking site, but usually the companies are headquartered in a country with less stringent copyright rules. BlueBeat is listed as being based in Santa Cruz.”

As for the big people over at EMI, the only comment they have is: “”We’re looking into it.”

So, we guess you can go ahead and have a Beatles spree over at BlueBeat.com right now, but we don’t think it will last for long and who knows what will happen with those downloaded files once you have them.
