Australia’s latest blessing to the world comes in a quartet of young men called The Temper Trap. These kangaroo boys have a boyish charm that will sweep you off your feet; think Florence + The Machine or The Maccabees. Their song Sweet Disposition — off of their debut album Conditions — made it unto the dashing 500 Days of Summer soundtrack and since has been a bit of a huge success. Don’t let the soft energy fool you, Sweet Disposition blends riffs and drums in a very powerful, almost holy way.

Recently The Temper Trap boys relocated to London in the hopes of establishing a bigger fan base — but with or without a large fan base, The Temper Trap are surprisingly refreshing. Their material may sound catchy, but their confident lyrics drown out any suspicions of cheesiness.

When I first heard Sweet Disposition (during 500 Days of Summer), I refused to believe that the song originated from an indie band, but once I listened to Conditions, I realized that no popular band could do what The Temper Trap was doing; mixing a gorgeous falsetto voice with an indie rock style that was absolutely sweet to listen to.
