VOTD: Music Being Used to Torture Prisoners

Have you ever listened to a song and thought it was complete and utter torture? Some people say that as a figure of speech, but what if that literally occurred? Did you know that certain artists music is being used to torture prisoners in Guantanamo Bay? There are a few bands I know of that they can throw on a prisoner’s play list, but this isn’t about me. Roseanne Cash, daughter of the late Johnny Cash went on The Colbert Report to talk about an organization she’s a part of that’s trying to stop music from being used as a method of punishment.

In the following video she tries to be serious, but Stephen Colbert just won’t let her….

Roseanne was there to promote the website CloseGitmonow.org, and to make the general public aware of this method of musical torture. Stephen is obviously trying to explain to her that some artists music hurt people with or without the motivation to do so. Haven’t we all had an experience like that every once in a while?
