It’s safe to say that that most of us are able to catch up on our TV shows thanks to the wonderful world of streaming online. In fact, there are many who may not even have cable due to the convenience of streaming television shows today. If your show is not available on the network’s website, then it’s probably on Hulu.

It’s somewhat like the evolution of mp3s. Songs used to come in a package called a “COMPACT DISC” – CD for short. Anyone remember those? Just because CDs are becoming extinct as mp3s dominate music form thanks to iTunes, Apple now seems to think they can take place of your cable box, too.

Gizmodo has reported that Apple is currently in the middle of pitching to networks. Pitching what exactly? Apple believes they can give you all your TV shows for just $30. That sounds pretty cheap compared to what we pay Time-Warner, Comcast, etc! What’s the hold up?

Although it sounds easy, Apple has yet to get someone to commit. Gizmodo also reminds us that relationships between networks and cable operators aren’t also a perfect fit. Plus, everyone is rightfully worried about how much revenue online TV can bring. Ads aren’t cutting it and that’s why even Hulu is trying to figure out a way to make us pay.

What do you think of iTunes instead of cable? Are you crossing your fingers?
