If you’re an avid baseball fan, and a lover of music this might be the perfect combination for you. According to the Associated Press, the latest musical artist to perform the National Anthem prior to one of the upcoming World Series games will be Mary J. Blige.

Today it was announced that Blige will perform just prior to Game 6 in the World Series at Yankee Stadium on Wednesday. She will follow in the footsteps of previous artists John Legend and Alanis Morissette who have both sang the Star Spangled Banner for the event. The championship match up this season is between the New York Yankees and the Philadelphia Phillies.

Blige has been a mainstay in the music industry for almost 18 years, making her solo debut back in 1992. Since then she has gone on to win 6 Grammys and countless other awards. This is a game that I’m actually looking forward to, not just because Blige will be singing, but because it’s game 6! Everything gets a lot more exciting as the series winds down.

What do you think of Mary J. Blige singing the National Anthem during the World Series?
