Lloyd Dobler Effect Pays Tribute To Say Anything

BOYB! …as in “B-Y-O-Boombox!” That’s what Maryland-based five-piece rock group, Lloyd Dobler Effect, said yesterday as they celebrated the movie that gave them their name.

Although, their rock music (with Latin beats inserted from time to time) sound far from anything Peter Gabriel is known for, Lloyd Dobler Effect’s band members and friends took over the Big Apple yesterday as they celebrated and promoted the 20th anniversary of the film, Say Anything.

With everyone dressed in white t-shirts, blue jeans, and long khaki trench coats resembling the ensemble John Cusak’s character wore in the movie, boomboxes were held high and proud through the entire city. The event also had a finale which entailed the band playing a cover of “In Your Eyes.” Clever. Also, funny.

Check out the footage below!

Didn’t know who Lloyd Dobler Effect was before? Well, what do you think of them now?

Man! I wish I could have been there! These guys NEVER play this song! I also heard that they performed their song, "Going Back to the End"… Why, oh why, was I stuck at work? I hat my job!
