Green Day, Shakira, and More Perform at the AMAs
Nov 06, 2009 - By Laura AguirreThis year, the American Music Awards will once again give us more of the same. According to MTV, the AMAs have added Green Day, Shakira and Mary J. Blige to share the stage with other artists such as Lady Gaga, Rihanna and Adam Lambert on November 22nd when the annual ceremony takes place.
“Each year, we try to have a variety of artists and sounds, and I think these performers really showcase the depth of what this show brings to its fans,” said AMAs producer Larry Klein in concerns to the pool of performers.”
Other big performances that night include Jay-Z, Eminem, Keith Urban, Carrie Underwood, Kelly Clarkson, Daughtry, Alicia Keys, the Black Eyed Peas, and Jennifer Lopez. Some of these names should come as no shock to those of you who frequent awards shows. Alicia Keys performed at last year’s AMAs, as did Rihanna, and Lady Gaga recently created controversy with her performance at the VMAs.
One entertainer we haven’t heard anything from is Jenny from the Block, so it’s strange that she’s going to be hitting the stage at a major awards show with no new material out. What will she be singing? We have no idea!
The gamut isn’t as wide as Klein claims it is, all the women featured are princesses of pop, so it’s going to take something outrages to tell their performances apart (surely Lady Gaga has that one covered). It would be nice to actually see some variety, we’re getting tired of seeing the same old, same old.
What do you think of this year’s AMAs lineup?
