Georgia’s Manchester Orchestra is one of the few bands that can pull off extremely melancholic music without it being labeled “emo.” Their latest single, “Shake It Out,” off of their sophomore album Means Everything to Nothing, was released today via MySpace, and from the looks of it the band not only has a thing for music, but for dramatic films as well.

The music video turns into a dramatic action film about a scruffy truck driver (Andy Hull) addicted to arm-wrestling who wins the wrestling trophy by beating a guy twice his size (tongue planted directly in cheek). The first time around it didn’t seem all that sarcastic, but once I hit replay, I couldn’t stop laughing from how hilarious the Shake It Out video really it.

What we enjoy, of course, is the music. Hull’s emotional lyrics intertwined with his hoarse voice creates a phenomena of heart-felt music. But with Manchester Orchestra the amount of sad music never goes too overboard and the chorus in Shake It Out is proof of that. They bring a swaggering hard-rock that actually makes the video work well. In the case of this song and its video, the verdict it that they compliment each other.
