It’s back to the beach for Phish, who have announced that they will put a bow on a memorable 2009 with four consecutive performances at the American Airlines Arena in Miami, starting December 28th and ending on December 31st.

There will actually be a trio of Phish sets on Dec. 31st to ring in the New Year, the band’s first New Year’s Eve concert since they played the same city and venue back in 2003. Before Phish wrap up the year in Florida, the band is set to kick off their fall tour next week in Detroit on November 18th.

While the Miami shows are definitely going to be awesome, another Phish concert ‘event’ just wrapped; Phish recently played to 40,000-plus fans at Festival 8 in Indio, Calif. The three-day event featured the band’s famous Halloween concert where they performs another band’s album start to finish.

This year Phish went with The Rolling Stones’ 1972 classic Exile on Main Street. The band went on to play their first-ever, full-length acoustic set the next day.

A limited number of tickets for all four Miami shows are available directly through Phish Tickets’ online ticketing system at phish.portals.musictoday.com. The ticket request period is currently underway and will end Sunday, November 15th at 11:59pm EST. Tickets will go on sale to the public on Saturday, November 21st at 10:00am EST.

Between their first tour in five years, a new album (Joy), the big Fenway Park show, Festival 8 and Bonnaroo it’s been quite a year – thus far – for Phish. The New Year’s Eve celebration in Miami could very well be the highlight of 2009 loaded with them for the beloved jamband from Vermont.
