Watch Serge Gainsbourg: Vie Heroique Trailer

First we heard about a Jeff Buckley biopic, recently a John Lennon biopic and now there’s apparently one for famous French musician, Serge Gainsbourg!

In Serge Gainsbourg: Vie Heroique (translated as A Heroic Life), director Joann Sfar depicts a pretty regular childhood-before fame-after fame and tragedies storyline, but who he picked for his cast is what’s kept us intrigued enough to share the first trailer with you. A little warning though – just a smidge of it might be NSFW!

The film will be released in France on January 20th and rumors are saying the States will get it in February 2010. Major characters include:

  • Eric Elmosnino as Serge Gainsbourg
  • Lucy Gordon as chanteuse wife, Jane Birkin (aka Charlotte Gainsbourg’s mother)
  • Supermodel, Laetitia Casta as Brigitte Bardot
  • Anna Mouglalis as singer, Juliette Gréco
  • Sara Forestier as yé-yé singer, France Gall
  • Myléne Jamponoi as singer-actress, Bambou

However, according to The Playlist we also get to see a bit of musician, Gonzalez, as part of the action. Mostly known for working with Feist and Peaches, he will be playing the stand-in piano in the film.

The trailer is all in French, but if you know enough about Gainsbourg’s life you should be able to get the gist of the plot. Enjoy!

What do you think of the first trailer?
