Liam Gallagher Forms New Band Without Brother Liam Gallagher Forms New Band Without Brother

After 18 years together, Oasis has broken up because Noel Gallagher decided to quit back in August. Brothers Liam and Noel could never get along within the band. Despite their success, their tension within the group was always the media’s focus.

Although Oasis has broken up for good this time – Liam says so – the group will somewhat go on. They just won’t go on as using the same name.

It’s nothing like the Sublime problem. What we mean by this is that all the current members will still be a band together but have no inclination to keep the name, Oasis.

According to the London Times (via Associated Press), Liam elaborated on the subject by saying “We had a good run at it. The thing about Oasis is [...] we ended Oasis. No one ended it for us. Which was pretty, kind of … cool. I’m thinking of what the next step is musically, which is all my mind’s on.”

The lack of Noel’s presence means he is no longer the main songwriter, the band will finally showcase their songwriting all on their own. Liam made this clear when he also added: “I’ll be doing music to the day I die. People will be able to buy his (Noel’s) records. People will be able to buy our records. So everyone’s happy.”

Oasis’ latest album, Dig Out Your Soul, reached the #5 spot on the Billboard 200 after its release last October. Will Liam and the rest of the boys be able to do the same? Can they write a magnificent foil to “Champagne Supernova?”

Whatever happens, it will definitely be interesting to see. Now the brothers can really go head to head. Only this time, they’ll be doing it in a legitimate manner.

Are you excited for Liam and this new band?
