Looks as if Wilco have no problem planning ahead. Like September 2010 ahead. The band are now confirmed as the headliners for the 2010 edition of the End of the Road Festival. And guess what? Tickets for the 3-day event are already available from the official website.
The festival takes place at Larmer Tree Gardens in Dorset/Wiltshire from September 10 – 12.
Joining Wilco at the End of the Road Festival will be artists such as The Mountain Goats, The Low Anthem, AA Bondy, Diane Cluck with Anders Griffen and The Wilderness of Manitoba.
It’s like Indie-Folk heaven!
A popular fixture on the festival circuit since 2006, the End of the Road event has attracted just about all the big names from the folk, alt. country and Americana music scenes. The 2009 edition attracted an impressive line-up that included the likes of Fleet Foxes, Okkervil River, Neko Case, The Hold Steady, The Boy Least Likely To, Vetiver and Blitzen Trapper. There were close to hundred artists that performed over the weekend.
No doubt anticipation for the 2010 festival is already high, especially with the announcement that Wilco, The low Anthem and The Mountain Goats (among others) have already sent in their RSVP to perform.
The idea with the End of the Road Festival was to organise an intimate festival with our favourite artists and to create a festival with a friendly and relaxed feel, reads a statement on the official website.
The organizers encourage band participation in all areas of the festival; many acts are invited to DJ, present workshops and other cool activities. The festival is all about creating an atmosphere of collaboration and special events. The various performance venues includes Garden Stage, Big Top, The Local Stage, Tipi Tent, Cinema Tent, Comedy Stage and Healing Field.
The End of the Road Festival was quite deservedly shortlisted in two categories for this year’s UK Festival Awards: Best Small Festival and The Grass Roots Festival Award. The voting is closed and the awards ceremony will be held November 19.
