Elton John Is Back After Hopitalized For Flu and Bacterial Infection
Nov 17, 2009 - By Seraphina L.
Elton John had recently been getting all the attention he could have ever wanted and more – in a hospital bed. The attention was coming from doctors and nurses who aided him in his recovery from the flu and a E. Coli bacterial infection.
However, he’s now back on his feet and has been busy since he was able to hop out of bed.
Just before heading to the Elton John AIDS Foundation, he shared his feelings about being bed-ridden with the Associated Press. He describes his experience as all right when he explains,
“The worst thing about being in the hospital was that, actually, it’s the first time I’ve been in bed for about nine days in the whole of my life, except for maybe when I had my tonsils out. So, I was all right. I had a good rest; I didn’t expect it. The worst thing was having to cancel shows. I hate that. But I’m back on my feet and I’m bouncing around now.”
The Elton John AIDS Foundation is essentially a fund raising committee that has goals of helping HIV prevention programs and eliminating the stigma and discrimination associated with HIV/AIDS. The night’s event honored the likes of former President Bill Clinton and Sharon Stone. Even after being ill for several days, audience members raved about his performance being spectacular as always.
Although some may deem him a typical “queen,” people who attended the event commended his need to get right back to work. John was sure to get the point across when he also shared with the Associated Press,
“We are in a bad time economically and everybody’s vying for attention … we mustn’t let AIDS get onto the back seat. It’s very important that it stays in the forefront of our attention because it’s a disease that’s not going away. In fact it’s really increasing in a lot of areas.”
Sir Elton John seems to be acting like the knight that he is by proving he can use fame for a good cause over and over again.
