If your a fan of The Deftones and live in the Los Angeles area, we’ve got an opportunity for you. The band will perform two benefit shows this week for a very special cause.  A press release was just sent out on behalf of the group and their label regarding the upcoming event. If you want to hear some great music and support a worthy cause, you should definitely check it out.

More on the event below…

Deftones, one of the world’s most respected and influential hard rock bands will perform two very special benefit concerts at the Avalon in Hollywood, CA, this week to raise money for the Chi Ling Cheng Special Needs Trust. The trust has been set up to help pay for the growing medical costs required for Deftones beloved bassist Cheng’s survival and long-term recovery. Cheng was involved in a serious car accident on November 2nd, 2008 that has left him in a semi-conscious state for the past year.

The two benefit concerts will take place this Thursday and Friday November 19th and 20th at the Avalon, 1735 Vine St., Los Angeles. Tickets for Friday’s show are currently on sale. For those who cannot attend, an online auction has been established through Charity Buzz as a way to provide opportunities for fans to donate to the Trust. The auction commences tomorrow, November 17th. More details on the way soon. Please check www.deftones.com for more information.

As you can see, no one is immune to the cost of extreme medical care. In the unfortunate situation this would be an ample opportunity for fans everywhere to show their support by donating to the Cheng Trust.
