Bob Dylan’s Must Be Santa Video Is A Strange Comeback
We previously commended Bob Dylan for making a Christmas album which will have proceeds go to charities that provide hunger relief. However, Dylan just doesn’t seem to be himself these days.
Or perhaps, he’s just cracking out of that bubble where all music fiends, like us, glorify him for his magnificent songwriting during his Blonde on Blonde days. Don’t get us wrong, he’s still one of the greats but after appearing in a Victoria’s Secret commercial, teaming up with CitiBank, and now releasing this video for “Must Be Santa,” it seems like he’s just getting a bit silly.
The video, made for a track off of the recently released Christmas in the Heart, is Dylan’s first music video in 14 years. After watching it, we are beginning to think he hasn’t made one in a while for several reasons. Although he’s poking fun at some simple holiday songs and the drunken chaos that accompanies it, Dylan seems severely out of place as he dons different hats (and looks like Tom Petty) in this polka-themed rendition. Dylan has lost his mind!!! Sans the video portion, it reminds me of the "Taxi" sitcom scene where Latka Gravis (Andy Kaufman) is working on a cab in the garage and whistling to a tune he is listenening to on a foreign radio station he has picked up on. The music is some rinky dink accordian type tune and in walks Reverend Jim (Christopher Lloyd), looks around, cups his one ear to the polka type accordian tune playing, shakes his head in amazement and proclaims "You Just Never Know What Dylan Is Gonna Do Next"!!! How true this once fictitional and now almost musically accurate scene from the 1980's has become!!!!!

BLONDE ON BOBE
I think it's hilarious and supposed to be rollicking fun. He's still the band leader in it.. with a Book, Burgundy, the Butt of a cigar and the Baton (albeit figuratively, I give it a solid B+ !

Bob Dylan shows his genius yet again! What is Santa but merriment and play; and that's just what Bob is doing in this video! Made me wanna get out from behind the computer and dance and smoke cigars and bartend a cool party… and in true Dylan form, there's one nut just a little crazier than he is! My hat's off to Bob on a purely enjoyable music video!

I saw it first last night and it's been stuck in my head all day… strange for sure but I cant stop humming it. Dylan is a living God, who are we mortals to question his brilliance?
