Michael Jackson Memorial Costs Leaving LA Officials To Negotiate

Los Angeles citizens knew it was coming when when Michael Jackson, the biggest pop star in history,  passed away in their hometown. The memorial was lavish and lasted several hours on national television – and yes – it costs millions of dollars. It cost $3.2 million in taxes to be exact.

According to the Associated Press, an LA official is currently in the middle of negotiations with the owner of the Staples Center in regards to getting at least some reimbursement. However, a City Council recently postponed Monday’s cost review for up to a week.

Councilwoman, Jan Perry, reports that she had a positive conversation with AEG and this is good enough for her to postpone any big decisions when it comes to moving money back into any type of system. However, AEG spokesperson, Michael Roth, has no comment.

Although it seems like a very large amount of money owed to the citizens of LA, the AP also concluded that the memorial, itself, has actually boosted the economy of the large metropolitan city. This is also another reason why the City Council is not in a rush for reimbursement.

What do you Angelenos think? Do you think they should be waiting on this any longer?

This is it, made $100m , it's just ethical for the Jackson family to chip in something small so as to appreciate what the people of Los Angeles and the City Council came together and sacrificed their emotions and gratitude to mourn this great artist of their town..
