Massive Attack Announce Details For New Album

Massive Attack have announced that their fifth studio album, Heligoland, is scheduled for release on February 8, 2010.

Heligoland is going to feature a bunch of terrific guest performers, including Blur’s Damon Albarn Elbow’s Guy Garvey, Martina Topley-Bird, Hope Sandoval, Horace Andy and Tunde Adebimpe. It’s been six years since the Massive Attack duo from Bristol, UK released their last album, 100th Window.

Last month, the trip-hop duo released their first new material in three years, giving fans a preview of Heligoland with a 4-song EP Splitting the Atom which features 2 album tracks and 2 album track remixes.

The all-star guest line-up for Heligoland definitely adds to the anticipation for the new collection of original music from Massive Attack duo Robert Del Naja (3D) and Grand Marshall (Daddy G). Besides vocals, Damon Albarn also plays bass on ‘’Flat Of The Blade” and keyboards on “Splitting The Atom” while Portishead’s Adrian Utley plays guitar on ‘Saturday Come Slow’.

Massive Attack also announced a few UK tour dates in February and are expected to announce a U.S. tour next year.
