Bryan Ferry Working With Jonny Greenwood And Flea On New Album

The nattily attired Bryan Ferry is spicing things up for his next solo album by collaborating with members of Radiohead and Red Hot Chili Peppers. The Roxy Music vocalist has been in the studio with Radiohead guitarist Jonny Greenwood and the Chili Peppers’ bassist Flea, working on a new album which is slated for a summer 2010 release.
Nile Rodgers (from Chic) is producing, which adds to the anticipation of hearing new music from the suave, British crooner; Ferry’s most recent album was 2002’s Frantic, which also featured Greenwood. Ferry posted some video from the studio on his official Website.
So while we wait to see what the cool Mr. Ferry has up his sleeve with a new solo album, fans can get an early Ferry fix in January with the release of a songle called “U Can Dance,” a collaboration between house-techno stud DJ Hell and Ferry. Simian Mobile Disco, Carl Craig and Tim Goldsworthy all contribute remixes to the single.
The duo had originally planned to remix an old track by Roxy Music together but decided to record “U Can Dance.”
In an interview with NME, Ferry said of his working with DJ Hell:
“It’s always a pleasure to work with people from that genre, who follow a singular groove.”
Is this the start of a Bryan Ferry resurgence? Not that he’s ever been totally off the radar, but hanging out in the studio with Flea and Greenwood, teaming up with DJ Hell and not losing any of his uptown style at 64 years of age definitely keeps Ferry in the spotlight – reminding folks the guy has made some damn good music over years, with and without Roxy Music.
