Spoon Reveals Transference Cover Art and New Single
Nov 30, 2009 - By Seraphina L.
January 19 may be in the new year, but but Spoon is not slowing down before their release for new album Transference. They’ve dipped into new tunes earlier this year, added on a few tour dates, unveiled the tracklist, and now they are revealing the cover art and new single.
The photo above (via Stereogum) serves as a beautiful yet quirky image that Spoon often likes to display with their music. According to Pitchfork, they used an intricate photographer who went by the name of Ugo Mulason on their previous album sleeve for Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga. This time, Transference features the work of a photographer named William Eggleston. The original photo is titled “Sumner, Mississippi, c. 1970″ and was sold for over $86,500 at an auction last year. Art, no matter what form, is expensive but most of the time is worth it.
Spoon didn’t go too light with their cover sleeve for their single either.”Written In Reverse” is Spoon’s new single off of Transference, and it dons a quaint black and white photo upon pastel pink as you can see below (via Pitchfork). It is digitally available tomorrow and its 7″ release will take place on January 7, just less than two weeks from the album’s official release date.

You can hear “Written In Reverse” over at NPR.
What do you think of this round’s photo selection from Spoon?
