Tom Petty’s Live Anthology Disc Set
By Krystal Clark
Legendary rocker Tom Petty is out promoting his latest album entitled, The Live Anthology from which he’s comprised hours of music from his career as a solo artist and member of The Heartbreakers. According to the Associated Press, this isn’t a greatest hits album but instead a multiple disc set.
The 59 year old Petty stated that the Anthology started off as a cleaning project but turned into something more. He wanted to get rid of his old stuff, but the further he got into it the more he fell in love with the project. While going through all the footage the singer-songwriter was surprised to see how good the band was back in the day. He didn’t really listen to their music in the beginning but in hindsight he understands why they caught on with so many people.
The Live Anthology will include live concert recordings from 1978 to 2007, covering every era of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers’ tours and represents the best tracks as chosen by producers Petty, Mike Campbell and Ryan Ulyate. All the music will be issued within a four CD set that will feature the theme from “Goldfinger,” the Zombies’ “I Want You Back Again,” the Grateful Dead’s “Friend of the Devil,” early Fleetwood Mac’s “Oh Well,” Booker T. and the MGs “Green Onions”, and James Brown’s “Good Good Lovin’.
