Goldfrapp Announces New Album Head First Goldfrapp Announce New Album Head First

When Goldfrapp decided to go acoustic on us, we couldn’t be too upset. As great musicians, the duo equally put style into down-tempo and gorgeous folk melodies just as well as they highlight dance anthems for the discotheques.

However, if you weren’t so keen on their latest album, Seventh Tree, and long for the Supernature era again, you’ll be happy to know that Goldfrapp has just announced a new album and it sounds like they’re going back to their signature sound.

According to Pitchfork,  Alison Goldfrapp and Will Gregory will be releasing a new album titled Head First that is slated for release on March 22 in the UK and on March 23 in the US. The ultimate UK pop site, Pop Justice, describes their new single, “Rocket” (due out March 8 and 9 respectively in regards to location) as the following:

“an Italo-esque disco record that isn’t really an Ital0-esque disco record and is just in fact a Goldfrapp record, albeit one which sounds a bit like Van Halen vs Laura Branigan.”

Anything compared to Van Halen then paired with another artist who couldn’t sound more different should be interesting. “Rocket” is due out March 8 in the UK and March 9 in the US.

The duo has been busy with other projects such as scoring the film, Nowhere Boy, and teaming up with Christina Aguilera. They may be two very different projects but the duo has this magentic charm with every approach that we forgive them for going astray. Give us another “Ooh La La,” and we’ll be putty in their hands again.

That's all I want… I don't get the major label sophomore album failure of exactly every single band in the last century. The acoustic album was god awful. Supernature was far from perfect, but it was loud and fun.

To the moronic person above me:

You obviously don't even know who Goldfrapp are, nor which albums they've released. Their sophomore album was actually Black Cherry, Super Nature was their third. Their first album was Felt Mountain was similar to their most recent – Seventh Tree. So actually, they were going back to their original roots.
