Lady Gaga Makes A Fan Out Of Barry Manilow

Not all people can admit they’re a fan of Barry Manilow. The singer is mostly known for gently singing hits such as “Mandy” and “I Write The Songs,” so we can understand why a handful of young misfits may not dig his style.

However, throughout his career of more than three decades, Manilow has always been featured in a soft and flattering  spotlight where only kind words come out from the mouth of this man. Perhaps his songs aren’t the best to pump yourself up for a Dan Deacon show, but the man always has a genuine smile on his face and share nothing but sincere feelings toward his colleagues.

He’s even stretched his wise hands out to the young pop stars of today – particularly Lady Gaga and even Adam Lambert. Manilow, an artist who dons soothing ambiance rather than the flashy shock factors of today’s performances admits that artists like Gaga continue to impress him. Although Manilow’s shows often aim for supreme romanticism, the 66-year-old artist recently told told Reuters (via ABC), that Lady Gaga has caught his attention in a positive way.

While most parents and older audiences criticize upcoming pop stars for their blunt and racy stage antics, Manilow has expressed the following statement about Gaga: “I think Lady Gaga is very original. I really think she’s got something going for her.” After saying how much talented both Gaga and Lambert were, he went on to explain, “I encourage these young singers to do what they are passionate about.”

Oh, Barry. It’s no wonder he writes all the songs that make the whole world sing. He has the open mind most of the older generation seems to lack today. Even though we can’t say we entirely agree on the degree of talent he’s talking about, appreciation for all showmanship is always something to commend in our book.
