Taylor Swift Gets Comcast Video On Demand Deal

We all knew 2009 was a big year for Taylor Swift. She’s won a ton of awards from both the Country Music Awards and the American Music Awards already, and we’re banking on a slew of Grammy nominations for the teen country-pop star as well. Although an unfortunate incident, Kanye’s interruption also helped put her on the radar.

However, the 19 year old singer-songwriter has gotten something rare most musicians don’t usually get. Comcast, a cable service, has just announced that they will have a video-on-demand channel devoted to only Taylor Swift. Teen girls (and boys) are jumping for joy.

According to Reuters (via Hollywood Reporter), Comcast has decided to take advantage of their teen audience by unveiling an exclusive video-on-demand partnership with Swift on Wednesday. Content for the Taylor on demand includes all her videos including the popular “You Belong With Me” and “Love Story” but go one step further than other music television outlets (they are so rare now) with behind-the-scenes clips.

Derek Harrar, senior vice president and general manager of video and entertainment services for Comcast explains their endeavor by stating, “Taylor Swift is hugely popular on-demand, consistently having the top-performing music videos on the service.”

Their music content generally seems to help Comcast in sales the most and this quick pop star steal will surely boost their ratings. Taylor Swift 24-7! As if we didn’t already get that everyday from mainstream radio.
