Blur Offers Documentary Instead Of Permanent Reunion Blur Offers Documentary Instead of Permanent Reunion

When Damon Albarn and Graham Coxon said they’d be more than up for a reunion and perhaps a new album as well, we music geeks who adored the British band in the 90s didn’t know what to do with all the euphoria.

Blur has had a run of successful concerts, but now it sounds like they’ll be following Pavement‘s footsteps where they’ll play for us but remind us that they’re not back together for good. Why, 90′s, oh why do you just come back to tease us?

According to Consequence of Sound, we won’t be getting a new album or permanent plans for the future buta documentary with exclusive footage instead. Also, when we say “we”, we really mean the folks overseas in the UK. Apparently, directors Dylan Southern and Will Lovelace (who have directed Franz Ferdinand videos), have been following Blur around for their brief reunion on the road.

The film is titled No Distance Left To Run and offers fans an inside look to how the band members are feeling after separation, solo careers, and unresolved feelings. Fans will catch a glimpse of band rehearsals, unreleased archived footage, and of course, bits and pieces of recent reunion shows. Consequence of Sound also reports the movie’s release date as January 19, 2010 and will be most likely via Art Alliance Media.

We can look at it one way. It’s just been a big tease since band members such as Albarn still has current projects like Gorillaz going on. Or we can just be thankful that there was even a reunion at all just like we are with Pavement. Although they haven’t reunited like Pixies or Sonic Youth for the long run, at least the reunion has been in existence for some time and not just a mere rumor like Pulp’s reunion. (Come on, Cocker!)

What do you think? Are you satisfied with Blur ending their reunion with a documentary?
