The Fiery Furnaces: Even in the Rain Music Video

A new music video has been released from the group The Fiery Furnces, and it’s called “Even in the Rain.” The video is directed by Daily Show and Saturday Night Live writer Scott Jacobson for the single featured on their album, I’m Going Away. If you don’t know anything about the counterculture revolution of the sixties, this video will quickly educate you.

The video for “Even in the Rain” is heavily inspired by the feature film Easy Rider, which starred Dennis Hopper and Peter Fonda. The movie was a cult classic and represented a lot of the changes that were happening in society during that time. The Fiery Furnaces put their own comedic spin on what they believe may have happened behind the scenes of the movie. Eleanor Friedberger plays Fonda and Matthew plays Hopper, which turns out to be better casting than you’d expect. Why can a woman pull off Peter so well?

There are also a couple of cameo appearances that include Daily Show correspondent John Oliver, Superchunk drummer/radio comedian Jon Wurster, and Sebadoh’s Jason Loewenstein (who also plays with the Furnaces). Even if you’ve never seen Easy Rider, you’ll find this video hilarious!
