Concert Tickets: Muse, We Were Promised Jetpacks, Antlers…
By Brian Spiegel
I’m trying out a new, more user friendly format for the concert on sales. I find it a little less cluttered and more to the point. Please comment me back and let me know what you think. By the way, if this week mixed with the initial Lilith Fair lineup as well as the soon to be announced Alkaline Trio/Cursive tour is any indication, this is going to be one amazing year for live music.
Headliner: Muse
Opener: The Silversun Pickups
Dates: Only six dates announced so far: Feb. 27 in Atlanta, GA through April 5 in Salt Lake City, UT. Expect more in the coming weeks, including Muse’s already confirmed Coachella headlining date in mid-April.
Price: $40-$50 without service charge.
What’s The Deal: With Muse’s new album The Resistance hitting it’s stride, expect many more dates to be announced (including a bunch on the festival circuit). Without a doubt, this double bill is hand’s down one of the strongest of the new year.
Tickets On Sale: Saturday morning.

Headliner: New Found Glory
Openers: Saves The Day, Hellogoodbye and Fireworks
When: Beginning Jan 29th in San Diego and running through March 21st in Anaheim, CA. Playing mostly House of Blues and Live Nation venues.
Price: $20-$30 depending on your market.
What’s The Deal: New Found Glory continues their yearly tradition of touring House of Blues venues with a stacked lineup of opening bands (who can forget the 2005 lineup of NFG, Reggie and The Full Effect and Eisley? Not me, and I don’t remember much). Though too poppy for punk-purists and too punk for pop-fans, New Found Glory has a strong following and always puts on a good show.
Tickets On Sale: This weekend.

Headliner: Cymbals Eat Guitars
Opener: Bear In Heaven
When: The tour begins March 5th in Philadelphia and ends April 9th in Brooklyn.
Price: Think cheap indie show: $8-$15
What’s The Deal: If anything, this tour combines two bands who rank among the best band names in recent memory. Bear In Heaven either sounds like a Pixies B-Side or the badly translated title of a 1950′s Russian propaganda film.

Headliner: We Were Promised Jetpacks
Opener(s): TBA
When: February 11th in New York thru March 6th in Denver
Price: $15-$20
What’s The Deal: One of the best new artists of 2009, We Were Promised Jetpacks return to the US in support of their new album “These Four Walls”. Plus, Patton Oswalt loves them. Enough said.
Tickets On Sale: Now-ish.
-
Headliner: Antlers
Opener: Editors
When: February 8th in beautiful San Francisco, CA thru February 21st in socialist stronghold Washington D.C.
Price: $20-$25
What’s The Deal: This tour is catnip for British indie-rock fans. If you’re bored with your Arctic Monkeys records then this is your tour.
Tickets On Sale: Saturday, Saturday, Saturday.
-
Headliner: Against Me!
Opener(s):Tim Barry, Ninja Gun
When: This is a short, five-date Florida tour beginning February 17th in Jacksonville and ending on the 21st in Gainesville.
Price: $10-$15
What’s The Deal: I get the feeling that Against Me! has a tendency to get really uneasy if they stay home too long because no band has done more mini-tours in the last six months than they have. Expect a full tour sometime early next year (their new album should be out in the Spring) but in the mean time, either move to California (they have a mini-tour there in mid-December) or Florida and you can get your fill of AA!.
Tickets On Sale: Now.

Headliner: The Take Action Tour 2010 featuring We The Kings
Opener(s): Mayday Parade, A Rocket To The Moon and There For Tomorrow
When: January 25th in Atlanta thru March 11th in Oklahoma City
Price: $15
What’s The Deal: Apparently both We The Kings and Mayday Parade are huge right now on the emo/screamo/punk circuit, which is weird because I’ve never read anything about them nor heard of them outside of the Alternative Press universe. If you ever want proof that Pete Wentz is a genius (and don’t kid yourself, as a promoter he is the best in music right now) then just look at how every band and label has followed his DIY lead.
