Taylor Swift is Billboard’s Artist of the Year

As if 2009 hadn’t given us enough Taylor Swift overkill, Billboard Magazine has named her the artist of the year. The country singer has already swept up every major music award this season, so this announcement should come as no surprise. The magazine states that the logic behind their choice has to do with Swift’s record and tour performance and her ability to handle pressure during a certain incident (shifty eyes).

According to Billboard, Swift has out sold every other artist this year with the exception of Michael Jackson, and her first headlining tour Fearless 2009, sold out every show within minutes. She became the youngest woman to win the Country Music Assn.’s entertainer of the year award, and she set seemingly every chart record that exists.

This all sounds reputable but they still managed to throw in Kanye-gate as one of the main reason’s she topped their list.

She proved herself a graceful, timeless celebrity, handling hosting duties on “Saturday Night Live” and a rampaging Kanye West at the MTV Video Music Awards with equal aplomb.

Interestingly enough, Swift was followed on the Artists of the Year list by Beyonce , whom is then followed by Lady Gaga in third place. This has to be one of the most predictable and boring lists I’ve ever come across. Thanks for sharing with us what we already knew Billboard. No one can break the trifecta that is Swift-Beyonce-Gaga.
