Top Ten Viral Videos of 2009

Here’s another end of the year countdown that features plenty of musical acts. Over at Techcrunch they’ve posted the Top Ten Viral Videos of the year and guess what singers made the top of the list? Here’s a hint, one encouraged you to put a ring on it, while the other stared you down with her poker face.

Visible Measures’ viral video list is determined by viewership of both officially syndicated video clips and viewer-driven social video placements. The data is compiled using its database analysis on more than 200 million Internet videos across 150 video-sharing platforms.

Out of all the videos listed here The Twilight Saga: New Moon is the only movie noted. The film’s trailer has accumulated over 22 million views since its debut on YouTube. It’s followed by Beyonce and her catchy tune “Single Ladies,” which became the online sensation that made everyone sport a black leotard. And Lady Gaga managed to sneak in and snag two spots, coming in at number 3 with “Poker Face” and number 10 with “Just Dance.”

The rest of the list is rounded out with Michael Jackson, Miley Cyrus, and Mariah Carey. MJ pops up twice with “Thriller” and “Beat It,” which peaked around the time of his death. The rest of these choices aren’t that surprising, especially Beyonce and Lady Gaga. They were everywhere this year!
