2010 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Inductees
By Krystal Clark
Today has been filled with award nominations and honorees. In the world of movies, the annual Golden Globe nominations were announced, followed by one of music’s most prestigious honors. The 2010 Rock in Roll Hall of Fame inductees were named and they include some historical acts from almost every genre of music.
Next year The Stooges, ABBA, Genesis, The Hollies, and Jimmy Cliff will all be inducted into the Rock in Roll Hall of Fame. Rumor has it that The Stooges have been rejected seven times for induction, and are finally getting their due. ABBA is an interesting pick because the group hasn’t made a public appearance since their final performance in 1982, and according to Rollingstone they probably won’t come out of retirement for the special occasion.
“It’s very tricky because Agnetha [Fältskog] is not flying,” Andersson says. “The people who are really fond of ABBA for what we did, I think we are doing them a favor by not going out.” He said he wouldn’t completely discount a performance, but wanted to talk it over with the rest of the group. “It’s 99 against 1 [odds], though.”
The Peter Gabriel fronted Genesis band also went their separate ways in ’82, but aren’t as reclusive as ABBA. Unfortunately, drummer Phil Collins has had some recent health problems, so their not sure if he’ll be able to play some of the band’s earlier music. Everyone selected this year is truly a group of characters. They’ve all had successful careers, and their own personal beefs with fame and the media. Isn’t that what being a rock star is all about?
The 25th annual induction ceremony is scheduled for March 15 in New York City and will air on the Fuse cable network.
What do you think of this year’s hall of fame inductees?

Genesis and The Stooges are deserving of induction. Both bands are very influential and have a firm place in rock. It is time the rock hall centers all it's activities in Cleveland, that is where the museum is afterall. The committee is currently a corporate farce. They have completely overlooked such influential artists like Link Wray, Dale Hawkins, Johnny Burnette, Dick Dale, Davie Allan, Lonnie Mack, The Surfaris, Kiss, The Clash, The Sex Pistols, SRV etc. It is time they stop catering to corporate music and recognize real rock.

Quantiy of songs should not be a deciding factor. Quality, of song and presentation of a song is very important. Remember there are different age groups that listen to music. Different people have appreciation for different music. Don't be so quick to condem ofthers for their appreciation for some great music!.
