Concert Tickets: Yo La Tango, Midlake, Ted Leo…
Friday, December 18, 2009 12:09PM - By Brian Spiegel

Ho, ho, ho. Merry Christmas… [insert Tiger Woods joke here].
This should probably be the last fairly active ticket on-sale weekend of the year as the holidays will bring announcements to a stand-still. Do not fret though, because early 2010 should yield many of the big concert announcements of the first half next year. And looking at what has already been announced and what is rumored it should be a doozy of a year.
Here are this weeks on-sales:
Headliner: Yo La Tango
- Opener: Times New Viking
- Dates: Tour begins January 22nd in Pontiac, MI and runs through the 30th in Dallas, TX. Find all dates here.
- Price: $17-$23.
- What’s The Deal?: Indie-veterans Yo La Tango will take out indie-newcomers Times New Viking for a brief Midwest tour down the middle of the country. Indie-fans rejoice and sing. The Indie-Grinch hoping to steal Indie-Christmas is thwarted… for now.
- Tickets on sale: Now.
Headliner: Midlake
- Opener(s): TBA
- Dates: Southwestern tour begins March 1st in Tucson and runs through the 13th in Denton, TX. Find all dates here.
- Price: $15-$20
- What’s The Deal?: Never really heard of Midlake before, but their album cover’s just yell “Yes, we listen to The Resident’s and we are damn proud of it!”.

Headliner: Ted Leo and The Pharmacists
- Opener: TBA
- Dates: Thorough national tour begins April 11th in Cleveland and runs through April 10th in Boston. Find all dates here.
- Price: $12-$15
- What’s The Deal?: Ted Leo (and his Pharmacists) have notched out a spot as both punk rock’s eminate “thinking man” as well as an indie- mainstay who can grace the pages of websites such as Pitchfork and Stereogum without the readers blinking an eye. Trust me, that’s harder then you might think.

!FESTIVAL ALERT!
Festival: Bamboozle 2010
- Who Is Playing: As of right now Paramore, Hanson, Paper Tounges, The Aquabats highlight day one and Weezer, Girl Talk, MC Chris, Mute Math rule day two. Expect many, many more to be added.
- Dates: May 1st and 2nd in East Rutherford, NJ
- Price: $85-$90
- What’s The Deal?: This two day punk/emo/pop festival has become a popular stop for youth-leaning bands in recent years. Think a weekend version of the Warped Tour with more surprise pop acts then you would ever care to imagine
- Tickets on sale: Now.
Festival: Bamboozle California 2010
- Who Is Playing: As of right now only AFI and Something Corporate has been announced. Expect a lot of the same bands playing the Bamboozle Fest in New Jersey
- Dates: March 27th and 28th in Anaheim, CA.
- Price: $80-$90
- What’s The Deal?: As a two-time attendee of this festival I can say it is the ultimate guilty-pleasure weekend of the entire year. Where else can you rationalize watching such guilty pleasures as the Bloodhound Gang and Senses Fail under the guise of “waiting for the Get Up Kids” to play. Day Two headliner Something Corporate hasn’t played a full show in five years, and as one of the true underrated acts of this decade should steal the weekend.
