Michael Jackson Tribute Concert Canceled

There’s bad news for Michael Jackson fans today. The tribute concert that was supposed to take place in London during summer 2010  has been canceled.

According to Reuters, liquidators in charge of the big concert were have problems from the start. Originally set to take place in Vienna, Austria, that tribute concert was scrapped because Jackson’s brother, Jermaine Jackson, had trouble booking artists on such short notice. A replacement concert was then set to take place in London but nothing went according to plan for this location either.

The event planners are pointing fingers at the media in Austria by telling the public that artists scheduled to perform were only “B-list star.” After this, acts such as Mary J. Blige, Chris Brown, and Natalie Cole backed out of the line up. Unfortunately, with a short amount of time it didn’t look like they could fix anything and liquidators such as Martin Schneider told Reuters, “The company cannot sign any new contracts and will certainly not plan any new events.”

Not only is Michael Jackson still in debt even after his death, but AEG needs to come up with money fast to take care of ticket reimbursements and the amount they owe Los Angeles residents. What will happen now after something such as a tribute concert can’t fully be developed? Is the end of people extravagantly honoring Michael Jackson?
