Concert Picks: Mika Miko, Silvertone, Das Boton…
Friday, January 1, 2010 10:09AM - By Lindsey Darden

Happy New Year! 2010 has arrived, and we’ve a whole weekend to ring it in. We guarantee that no matter what time you wake up this morning (or afternoon) from last night’s revelry-fest that you’ll be able to make one of these shows when the doors open – or at least, very fashionably late. Check out our picks below:
- Mika Miko | Friday, January 1 | 9:00 pm | $10 | The Smell, Los Angeles, CA – Map | The self-proclaimed last show ever by quite possibly the most energetic, frenzied bands of the decade in the underground Los Angeles punk scene will be a bittersweet one… so be sure to bring your dancing shoes. With Hello Astronaut Goodbye Television, My Little Red Toe, and Silver Daggers - For more information, call (213) 625-4325.
- Silvertone | Saturday, January 2 | 7:30 pm | 21+ | $10 | Mercury Lounge, New York, NY – Map | There is very little we know about the Australia-based orchestral/symphonic rock band, but what we do know is their brand of psycahdelics is intriguing enough for audible participation (read: free streaming via Myspace, or in this case, a ticket stub). With Ippazzi and The Moxy – Tickets available at the door; call (212) 260-4700.
- Devotionals | Saturday, January 2 | 8:30 pm | 21+| $5 | Spaceland, Los Angeles, CA – Map | Guitar/violin strings and drums might not sound like much, but with the right arrangements and core compositions, said guitar/violin strings and drums are just enough. Featuring Tyson Vogel from Two Gallants; with Honeycomb and Cobalt Cranes – For ticket information, call (323) 661-4380.
- Das Boton | Sunday, January 3 | 9:00 pm | 21+| $8 | Hideout, Chicago, IL – Map | Instrumental rock, with perhaps a singer to come? We’re thinking the sound already has an element of storytelling that suits the band just fine – just stream “Bon Ham 08″ and tell us otherwise. With John Roeser Avenue - Buy Tickets
