David Bowie Tribute Album Tracklist Confirmed

The David Bowie tribute album is shaping up to be quite a must-have for 2010. The new album from LA-based Manimal Vinyl remains sans title, but the 28-song track-listing is out, reports strangeglue.com, and it features a superb collection of artists covering Bowie’s music.

Set for a May release, the tribute features MGMT, Soulwax, Carla Bruni and Duran Duran, among others; plenty of fine opportunities from the Thin White Duke’s catalog for the artists to reinterpret these awesome songs in their own special way, which is much better than just a plain re-hash of the original.

I cannot wait to hear Duran Duran’s take on “Boys Keep Swingin’.”

The album reportedly will include a Spanish version of the song “Sound and Vision”‘ by Devendra Banhart’s Megapuss, plus “Red Money” by Swahili Blonde and featuring John Frusciante.

Manimal says to expect tracks to start leaking out around February 15th.

The tribute album will be available as a limited CD, limited double LP and download with extra tracks unavailable anywhere else. This is 3rd and possibly final tribute for Manimal in addition to previous tributes to Madonna and The Cure.

100% of the net profits will go to War Child UK, part of the international charity for children affected by war.
