Soundgarden to Reunite in 2010
By Krystal Clark
There’s no better way to start off the new year than with good news from one of your favorite bands. According to Reuters, the popular rock group Soundgarden will reunite in 2010. As one of the major Seattle talents to come out of the grunge era, they’re ready to hit the stage once again according to front man, Chris Cornell.
The news broke when Cornell tweeted that the band would reunite for several concerts this year and directed fans to the official Soundgarden website. Cornell, guitarist Kim Thayil, bassist Ben Shepherd and drummer Matt Cameron haven’t played a live gig together since splitting up in the spring of 1997, but according to their site “the break is over.”
According to close sources, the band is weighing their options on what touring route they’ll take while waiting for Cameron to fulfill his prior commitments to play with Pearl Jam this spring. He’s been playing with the group since 1998 so he still has to honor his obligations with them before reuniting with his old buddies. For the most part Cornell and the other members of Soundgarden have kept a safe distance from one another until last October when they performed the song “Hunger Strike” at an LA show.
Shortly after, the plans for a full on reunion began to take shape, and now it’s finally here. Who’s ready to hear some good, old fashioned grunge music again? Should we all break out our flannel shirts and ripped jeans just for the occasion?
Are you excited about Soundgarden reuniting this year? Would you pay to see them play live again?
