Muse Breaks New Record
By MaliThere’s no doubt that Muse is just one of those bands with staying power. Not only have they been around since I was a teen, rocking out to their large sound with so few members, but apparently they also have staying power on the charts. Their current single “Uprising” has remained at No. 1 for 18 consecutive weeks on Mediabase’s Alternative Rock chart — breaking a record for the longest run at No. 1 in the history of the chart, previously held by Foo Fighters.
Who would have thought they would have ever beat one of the most over-played bands of all time? The Foo Fighters (although I love them) get so much airplay that they start to drive me insane! There goes your hero, we get it, do we really need to hear it 3 times, everyday for 10 years?
Here’s the press release info:
“Uprising” is the first single from The Resistance, the British rock trio’s fifth studio album, which debuted at No. 1 on the Alternative, Rock, and Internet album charts, No. 2 on the Overall Digital Album chart, and earned the band their highest-ever debut on the Billboard album chart by bowing at No. 3. An international smash, The Resistance also notched 20 No. 1 debuts around the world, including Canada, Australia, France, Germany, Italy, Ireland, and the U.K., where the album sold close to 150,000 copies making it the best-selling album by a UK artist this year.
