Human League Recording New Album For Comeback Human League Recording New Album For Comeback

With the resurgence of synth and electro pop in form of bands such as La Roux, Cold Cave and Little Boots, it’s a perfect time for those classic bands who started it all to reunite and make a comeback. One of these bands going for it is Human League.

Yes, new wave synth-pop band, Human League, is recording a new album! After having great success in topping the charts during the 80s, Philip Oakey, Joanne Catherall, and Susan Ann Sulley have signed to a new record label and are determined to show the newbies who invented this genre for pop.

Human League churned out hit album after another until they decided to go on a hiatus after their album, Octopus, in 1995. They returned with Secrets in 2001, but the album sales were weak compared to their previous eight albums. Although many say that Secrets suffered sales because of their label, Papilion Records, was going under bankruptcy at the time, the album lacked the infectious content during from the previous years and only managed to peak at #47 on the UK singles chart.

Now, according to The Sun, Human League has recently signed with Wall of Sound and are in the process of recording their 10th studio album. There isn’t word of a release date or a title as of now, however this is exciting for fans of the band who has unfortunately had to see themĀ  play “a string of cheesy Eighties revival tours.”

Depeche Mode and Pet Shop Boys have managed to have comebacks or consistently stay strong, so there is still hope for Human League! We’re rooting for the underdog because we know they were great once. Perhaps the new record label will guide them into the charts again and perhaps Oakey’s duet with Little Boots on her album, Hands, may help.

What do you think about Human League getting back together?

Depeche Mode havent made a comeback, they have never been away and consistently released albums every 3 yrs or so. Please correct the content of your articles before you issue them.

Comeback my arse, The Human League are retro 1980s shite. That photo is a decade old they look dreadful now.
They are just a load of middleaged hasbeens, at least it will give us something to laugh at.

The Human League never broke up. They just been playing a lot of live shows lately. They just haven't made an album in almost a decade. To me Secrets is there best album since Dare.

Did they break up? I dont think they did…..

Secrets was a great album, very clever mix of the classic Dare era mixed with electro clash and a few nice instrumentals thrown in as well, hope the new album is as good.
