Melissa Auf Der Maur has just released the first video from her second solo album/multimedia project, titled Out of Our Minds. Tony Stone directed the video for the title track and single, which follows the singer after she wrecks her car in the middle of the forest. It sounds kind of creepy and out there but the video is actually really beautiful…

Her new album has a hodge-podge of producers from all different genres including, Jordon Zadorozny (Sam Roberts), Chris Goss (QOTSA, UNKLE), Alan Molder (Depeche Mode, Smashing Pumpkins), and Mike Frazer (Franz Ferdinand, ACDC). In addition, she also does a duet with Glenn Danzig.

The video for “Out of Our Minds” definitely falls under the category of “multimedia project” because it doesn’t feel like a normal music video. Stylistically, it is very well done and is meant to be part of a collective effort of other videos. This type of set up makes sense, because you come in and it feels like there’s a whole other aspect to the story that is missing.

You can watch one of the many parts of Der Maur’s media project below…

Out of Our Minds hits shelves on March 23, 2010.

Do you think the video is confusing? Or do you understand what the artist is trying to pull off?
