Concert Tickets: Coachella and RX Bandits

So did anyone else stay up until 12 am on Monday morning hoping they would leak the Coachella lineup? I know there was a few of you. There is something magical about the anticipation leading up to Coachella lineup announcement. All of those fake posters that always end up being better then the actual show and weird rumors (I still think U2 would be a great headliner one of these years) just wet your appetite more. Then the morning comes where you refresh your browser time and time again until the poster is finally revealed.

Or maybe I’m just obsessive, who knows. Anyways, we are officially in the Summer Festival announcement season. Up next: Bonnaroo on February 2nd. Rumor has it that The Rolling Stones and Jay-Z are going to headline. Neat-o.

Other then Coachella, not a lot of indie or punk on sales this week. Maybe next week. In the mean time, check out these two:

Festival: Coachella Music and Arts Festival

Who Is Playing: For those of you who weren’t paying attention: Day One: Jay-Z, LCD Soundsystem, Them Crooked Vultures, Vampire Weekend, She & Him, Dillinger Escape Plan and others; Day Two: Muse, Faith No More, Tiesto, MGMT, Devo, Hot Chip and others; Day Three: Gorillaz, Pavement, Thom Yorke, Phoenix, Orbital, Spoon and more.

Dates: April 16-18

Price: $269 for three days; TBA for one day.

What’s The Deal: After all the speculation we finally have the lineup. It’s a very solid lineup with intriguing headliners and some great small stage spectacles (where else would you get Dillinger Escape Plan and Grace Jones on the same bill).  Maybe not 2007 great, but we Coachella fans tend to get a bit spoiled. My only complaint might be that the sub headliners are kinda weak. Faith No More? Are we still clamoring for them? I also know that the Pavement reunion is indie-tastic, but second on the bill, eh?

Tickets On Sale: Today at 10am. But don’t worry, I’m sure you already knew this.

Headliner: RX Bandits

Openers: The Builders and The Butchers and Zechs Marquise

Dates: March 9th in Tempe, AZ through April 23rd in Pomona, CA

Price:$15-$25

What’s The Deal: RX Bandits continues to evolve towards a punk rock/ reggae version of the Mars Volta. Whether that’s a good thing is up to your personal preference. This is one of those “Coachella” tours featuring bands on the bill that will team up for March-April tours. Expect more of those in the upcoming weeks.

Tickets On Sale: Saturday.
